Q: HOW DID YOU GET INTO THE BUSINESS?
Fashion & style have always been a passion of mine. At an early age, friends and family would always ask for fashion advice – like how to style something together or have questions regarding proper garment fit. I realized early on that I had a pretty unique eye for style and a growing curiosity for helping people look their best. I feel like I’ve always had an entrepreneurial spirit and an itch to go out and do something on my own. I knew I had to just keep hustling. I joined the Navy where I spent seven years developing a hard work ethic as well as hyper-focusing my levels of attention to detail. When I left, I decided to educate myself more on the ins and outs of the fashion industry. I picked up the trade quickly, continued to fine-tune my skills while learning the processes around sourcing top-quality fabrics, developing best practices with my manufacturing partners, and most importantly, becoming a master garment fitter. I discover new trends and techniques around fabrics and patterns daily, and I believe I’ll be a student of the industry forever. With the support of my friends and family, I started Amin Standard and hold myself and my team to the highest levels of customer service.
Q: WHERE DO YOU DRAW YOUR INSPIRATION FROM?
Honestly, most of my inspiration comes from things I see in everyday life: colors, patterns, unique styles – whatever jumps out at me at the time. It may be when I’m out with friends or even doing a fitting at a client’s home. I definitely incorporate a bit of heritage with a European/British flare into the designs. I’d say I aim to create classic, elegant, and sophisticated garments stemming from an English-based aesthetic.
Q: HOW DID YOU COME UP WITH YOUR BESPOKE PROCESS FOR AMIN STANDARD?
The key element in how we create garments is understanding how that garment is supposed to uniquely fit someone’s body. We take over 30 measurements of each of our clients during our consultations and build each component of the garment separately. Then we fit them together like puzzle pieces so the garment fits the client, and not the client fitting into the garment. From the beginning of the process to the end, we want the client to feel acknowledged, understood, and like they’re getting a top-quality garment with exceptional customer service. The team at Amin Standard strives to deliver a luxurious experience for each and every customer we have. The process in which we work with our clients is reflective of the same one used on the garment creation side – it’s unique, it caters to every client, and great customer experiences live in the little details of everything we do. It’s what the team prides itself on.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR ULTIMATE VISION FOR THE BRAND?
We want to give all of our clients the confidence they need to be successful in everything they do in life. As we continue to expand our product lines and refine our processes, we know we can’t lose sight of the overall customer experience at Amin Standard. We strive daily to achieve becoming a respected brand in people’s minds, and one day look to become an industry leader in bespoke fashion.
Q: YOUR CLIENTS ARE ANYWHERE FROM WORKING PROFESSIONALS, CELEBRITIES, BRIDAL PARTIES, TO CONTESTANTS ON THE BACHELOR…WHAT’S THE BIGGEST DIFFERENCE IN YOUR APPROACH FOR CLIENTS WITH VERY DIFFERENT TASTES AND NEEDS?
Our process centers around the specific client’s desires in mind, but no matter what the garment is for, the most essential element is functionality. Our biggest value proposition is that our pieces are transitional and versatile – however – that has to come with the understanding that some clients come to us with very specific requirements. For example, let’s take bridal parties; custom garments for the groom and/or his groomsmen become very specific to their planned event. In general, the beauty of the entire process is that everyone’s tastes are completely different depending on a whole host of factors. We have some clients who want to be “flashier” and some that want to be more understated; it’s really about actively listening to the client and talking through their wants and needs. The approach remains the same though – every client & garment gets the same level of attention, care, and quality.
